What's in season?
Q. I am getting married in September. While I love flowers, I'm not sure what to choose as I don't know what will be in season. What can you recommend?
A. Karen Woolven says: As it will be late summer, try not to stick with just flowers, and speak to your florist about including the abundance of berries, foliages and fruits in your displays. Take inspiration from the countryside and the impending harvest festival to create a very seasonal look. Perfect flowers for a burst of colour include dahlias and of course sunflowers. For those with a sweet tooth chocolate cosmos is a beautiful nut brown flower which actually smells like chocolate! Hypericum houses beautiful jewel-like berries in shades of red, orange and green, which look stunning mixed through bouquets and displays alike. English hydrangea is also in abundance in September. The gorgeous pom-pom shaped heads come in a range of wonderful muted shades that will add a wow factor to displays. |
